The Benefits of Complementary Therapies during Pregnancy

Are you pregnant and considering using complementary therapies during your pregnancy? Are you looking for some ‘me time’ by going for relaxation treatments such as massage or hypnobirthing? Would you like to relief some of those discomforts of pregnancy? Or maybe consult with a midwife on the process of pregnancy, birth & parenthood?

Danika Bilocca, a registered midwife specialising in maternity complementary therapies, has recently set up Blooming Mamas to offer professional, individualised care to support expectant women through their pregnancy journey. Treatments include Aromatherapy, Massage, Acupressure, Hypnobirthing, Moxibustion and Birth Preparation classes. Complementary therapies and natural remedies can be very beneficial during a mama’s pregnancy journey and particularly during labour. Here Danika explains the benefits of these pregnancy treatments.

Aromatherapy & Massage

Aromatherapy & Massage can have wonderful benefits for both the mother & unborn baby. These therapies are known to improve breathing, increase flow of nutrients to the baby, reduce anxiety & depression and relief muscle discomforts, nausea and swollen ankles, feet & hands. Having regular relaxation treatments during pregnancy will also prepare your body and mind to gently step into the flow of birth.

Hypnobirthing

Hypnobirthing is a natural childbirth technique that utilises breathing exercises, guided visualisation, positive affirmations and self-hypnosis to help you achieve a state of relaxation and calm well-being during pregnancy & birth. During a hypnobirthing session, you will remain conscious and in full control of your body and mind at all times. Hypnobirthing will help expectant mamas to build birth confidence, cope better with the pain of childbirth, bond with their unborn baby and achieve a more positive pregnancy & birth experience. Hypnobirthing is also known to shorten the process of labour and reduces the need of pharmacological analgesia.

Birth Preparation Classes

Midwife Danika believes that birth education is the key to prepare for and overcome the fears of birth. Blooming Mamas offers one-to-one pregnancy & birth education classes to help expectant couples develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to assist them during pregnancy while preparing them for the birth of their baby and beyond.

All in all, Blooming Mamas treatments focus on reducing stress and promoting overall wellbeing to both mum & baby. Visit www.bloomingmamas.com for more information.
